The project commenced on site following the final granting of planning permission and Heritage Lottery funding.

The main building structure is formed from a "Next Generation" timber frame. Fabricated off site, a series of structural insulated wall panels known as SIP's are delivered to site in pre formed sections that are simply pulled tightly together to form monolithic walls. These panels offer high levels of [CFC/HFC free] thermal insulation and an airtight construction. These walls are then over-clad in a board manufactured form recycled glass that is finished with either a blue or cream silicone render or a blue granular finish cladding board [of fully compressed fibre cement]. The overhanging roof is formed from the same panels finished with an EPDM roofing membrane. The eco-balance of this building system is extremely positive.
